How is Cornerstone different?

Because we believe there are things in life that are more important than money, we will ensure that every financial decision you make for the rest of your life will be completely aligned with your most important goals and your most deeply held values.

What role does Cornerstone play?

Our job is to orchestrate the unique written plan that we help every client create. We also hold everyone involved accountable, including the client, to ensure the greatest probability that the plan does what it was designed to do. It all starts at our first meeting with a simple conversation about what’s important. Having this experience in our first meeting, which takes about an hour, is a very good way to determine if we might be a good fit in working together. And that’s the primary issue we ponder with anyone interested in our firm – will this be a mutually good fit or not? Will we bring value to the relationship?

Who is a good fit for your service?

We have a small community of clients (versus hundreds or thousands), most of whom live locally. We want to be convenient to our clients. We do have clients who have moved away and want to continue to receive the exceptional service we provide. We communicate with these clients via Skype, webinar or conference call. We have a specific Ideal Client Profile. We work with financial delegators who are passionate about their goals, appreciate advice and expertise, and are eager to implement the financial plan’s recommendations. The clients we serve best have between $500,000 and $10,000,000 of investable assets.

What motivates Cornerstone when helping clients?

Cornerstone was founded with the simple idea of helping you, the client, create a comprehensive financial plan, implement the recommendations, and then manage your plan and assets so you can Live your Ideal Life!™ The financial issues are the easy part – the science of financial planning. What motivates us is – the art of financial planning – empowering you to make smart choices with your money, fulfill your aspirations, and see you experience genuine happiness in your life.

We make a difference by coaching people who believe money is a necessary tool but who also recognize that there are things in life more important than money.

What are the costs associated with your services?

The exact fee for the level of service your situation will require will be based upon conversations at our initial meeting.

We offer three tiers of service:

  • Consulting Fee Services™ – Hourly Planning (3 hr minimum)
  • Customized Financial Solutions™  – Modular Planning
  • Comprehensive Financial Solutions™ – Comprehensive Planning with Full Deliverables, Recurring Review Cycle™, and eMoney 360 Pro access

We have a minimum annual fee for Comprehensive Financial Solutions™. Of course, greater complexity increases our fee. Clients can choose to pay their fee every year, or offset the minimum annual fee by placing assets under management, as an example.

What do Cornerstone clients receive for the fees you charge?

We have a team of specialists in every area of finance. A common trait among successful clients is that they have a Comprehensive Plan™ with a Recurring Review Cycle™. This makes certain that nothing falls through the cracks and that the plan is on-track. In short, we help make sure their financial house is in order and we manage The 6 Big Risks®.

Why Cornerstone and not another Advisor?

At this stage, it’s not about whether we do business together or not. Our process is focused on establishing whether there will be a good fit in working together. If we both agree that there is… then great. If not… our process is designed to give you clarity about your situation. So even if there’s not a fit, we will have added value and direction for you.

What’s next is I decide to become a client?

The first step is to schedule an appointment and complete a Financial Road Map®. Based upon a commitment to hire and a commitment to implement, we conduct a Numbers Review Meeting™ and a Planning Options Meeting™. These are conducted within 4 to 6 weeks. We then schedule a meeting to begin implementing the plan. It is important to note that we are not in the plan “writing” business. We are indeed in the plan “implementation” business. Think of it this way…simply having a gym membership will not make you physically fit. Similarly, simply having a financial plan will not make you fiscally fit. You actually have to DO the work the goal requires to achieve it! We schedule three meetings annually as part of the Recurring Review Cycle™.

What makes you think I would be an ideal client?

If the elements of our Ideal Client Profile and the process we follow resonate with you, then you will enjoy the journey. Candidly, neither of us will know for 12 to 18 months whether or not there is truly a good fit.

How do I know I can trust Cornerstone?

Trust is an interesting thing… it is both earned and given. It’s not only a requirement of a meaningful business relationship, but any relationship. Our firm was built largely by referral. Our Ideal Client Community is responsible for building the great relationships we have. The highest purpose of our initial meeting is to determine if it will be a good fit for us to work together or not. If after an hour, it seems as though things should move forward, it will be obvious to both of us. If things are not going well, it should also be obvious. Our process is designed to determine if we can establish a relationship where there is mutual trust and value in moving forward together.
